December 30, 2009

The first night that we arrived on Maui we stayed in the town of Lahaina at the Lahaina Inn. The Inn was originally built in 1938 and had the charm of an old fashioned hotel. Our balcony overlooked the main downtown street and the ocean and thanks to our internal clocks remaining on Michigan time we were up bright and early to enjoy the sunrise from there. We spent most of the morning in Lahaina town, which is basically the only small town on the island that is not overrun with resorts, eating breakfast and walking on the docks. Matt enjoyed “Loco Moco," which consisted of white rice with a hamburger patty, two eggs, and brown gravy for breakfast and I enjoyed soaking in the sun.
