Lillian Grace: 11 Months Old

I don't even like to say it ... I almost have a One Year Old.  And it doesn't sound any better when I say that Lilly is 11 months old.  She is so grown up, where has the time gone?  For some reason I think I am stuck at about the 6 month mark ... that is what I want to respond when someone asks her age.  I want her to be 6 months old forever.  Although, I suppose I would miss all the fun things that Lilly at 11 months blesses us with.

The highlight of this past month has been her ability to give hugs and kisses on demand.  Oh, how I adore her hugs and kisses and it is particularly sweet when she shares them with other children or kitty.  My most vivid memory of this skill was about a month ago when we were in line at Hobby Lobby and she was starting to get a little restless, I was entertaining her with a ceramic bunny figurine and I ask her to kiss it, I showed her how and asked her to try and sure enough, she did it.  And the line erupted in "ohhs" and "sooo cute!"  She stole everyone's heart, including the ceramic bunny's that day.

She is continuing to master the art of walking.  She can walk with her walker, she can walk holding our hands, she can walk up to a dozen steps on her own.  It isn't going to be long before she prefers to walk as opposed to crawling.  I am looking forward to that day, but also dreading it ... it is a sure sign she is growing up.

Lillian has really become more vocal this month and has taken her babbling to a whole new level.  We are anticipating what her first "real" word will be.  There have been hints that it may be up, uh-oh or even ball ... but she is making us wait for the real answer.  Until then we delight in hearing her blow raspberries, babble a story or shriek in delight.

This month Mrs. Whiskers and Lilly have formed a new friendship as Lilly has taken to waving the kitty wand around.  Usually, Mrs. Whiskers isn't too fond of Lilly's roughness, but this new game, suits them both.  I am trying to get it on video, as it is quite a treat.

We still don't have an official appointment until after her 1st birthday so again our best guess on weight is 16.5lbs and 27.5 inches long.

I Like To Walk ...

Over the weekend Auntie Erin and Uncle Jake stopped by with an early birthday present for Lilly.  Even though her birthday is still over a month away we happily let her open it and try it out.  It is a perfect sized little walker and scooter.  Lilly just loves it and over the two days that she has had it, she has gotten really good at walking with it.  She hasn't quite figured out how to make it scoot, but she is more than happy to put her feet up and get pushed.  Thank you Auntie & Uncle for such a fun present.

Lillian Grace: 10 Months Old

Yes, that is the face of a ten month old.  A ten month old whose favorite activity is testing boundaries and exploring on her own.  Lilly has really developed a sense of self this month and it is delightful and frustrating at the same time.  Some examples to make my point clear ... during photo shoot time, Lilly wanted to do everything but stay in one place and smile, I have 100 pictures of her rolling over, crawling, playing with her tutu, taking her flower on and off, watching out the window and standing against the wall.  Of course, when I put the camera down she does nothing but smile and laugh.  She has also learned to walk while holding on to things.  I try multiple times a day to get her to hold my hands and walk around the house, because I know she will enjoy the mobility, but the minute I take her hands, she sits down.  Just today the little stinker took four or five steps on her own from TV to couch and then later she took four more steps just out in the open, with a free fall to crawl landing.  I guess she is going to learn to walk on her own with no help from us.

And speaking of mobility Lillian still really loves to crawl and chase and go through tunnels.  One of her favorite activities is trolling around the living room, looks for balls, rounding them up in her tent and then initiating a game of chase through her play tunnel or any blanket tunnel I have made for her.  Hide and Seek is a favorite activity these days along with standing at the baby gate playing a modified game of where are you.  Some-days the game gets a little out of hand and she gets worked up about being on the other side of the gate.  But nothing a good squeeze hug and kiss can't fix.

Lilly, still melts whenever she sees her dad and I don't think Matt has had a day where he didn't receive at least 100 smiles from his gal.  Most days she will babble for his attention and when he turns to look she lights up.  And she is now really starting to recognize other familiar faces and react.  She loves when Auntie Erin visits and excitedly crawls over to see her and she is starting to understand how to interact with her Grandparents Knoll via skype.

Lilly didn't have an official trip to the Dr's this month, so her stats are unofficially based on our scale and ruler.  Weight: 16 lbs  Height:  27.2 inches.
